3S Together Safety Programme
Working closely with safety culture experts, Fugro has developed the ‘3S Together’ safety programme which builds on Fugro’s groupwide approach of ‘Think Safe, Work Safe, Stay Safe’ at the basis of our Global HSSE Management System Standard.
Many health and safety incidents involve people’s behaviour. The choices we make, what we do, or don’t do, and our own attitude to safety can all contribute to and influence high-risk situations that may then lead to incidents and harm. The ‘3S Together’ programme introduces safety behaviours which provide a simple and effective framework to help us all work safely.
Fugro’s ‘3S Together’ aims to:
- Reinforce the importance of taking personal ownership of safety
- Encourage our leaders to actively engage with their teams in safety
- Stimulate positive safety conversations about our safety rules, policies, procedures and instructions.

Life-Saving Rules
Fugro has adopted the widely used Life-Saving Rules, which highlight the activities most likely to lead to a fatality, and the life-saving actions over which each individual has control. These mandatory rules apply to everyone, including contractors, from the people who plan and organise work to those who supervise and carry it out. They do not replace our management systems, policies, safety training programmes, operating procedures or work instructions, they provide people with the basic day-to-day actions they can take to protect themselves and their colleagues from serious incidents.
By adopting the standardised Life-Saving Rules, we aim to keep things simple and reduce complexity, all within the overall objective of keeping people safe.
